Krakow 2002-7-4
Ventured into Poland for the first time. Stayed at an okay hostel, and managed
to borrow a pot to cook with from some Finns. There were a lot of Finns about,
however it was a Danish girl who told me all about the exciting suspense series
that was being shown on the hostelÕs television. Polish television is humerous, because it is dubbed using
one persons voice! The original audio track was still present in the
background, so you could hear the original sound as well as this Polish manÕs
voiceover.
As a city, Krakow was quite nice to walk around in, but
there were plenty of Alcoholics.
The train station appears to turn into a massive homeless shelter at
night. Took a day trip to Auschwitz
after some difficulties with
trains. There is a lot to say, but
it is very hard to find someone to say it to. Many people must leave speechless.
Warsaw 2002-7-6
Warsaw features the Palace of Science and Culture, which
was my first experience of Soviet Wedding Cake Architecture. I look forward to seeing the Seven
Sisters in Moscow someday. I met a
guy from Cheshire who had enough horror stories from his exchange year in
Russia to scare me away from an immediate visit, but he was a good guy to explore
with, which helped WarsawÕs case.
