Left my neat little quad in Chicoutimi for the last time after a very
stressful time waiting for the room inspector "I knocked on your door at
5:45am," We were awake and didn't hear you was Wilson's reply. I ran
downtown with my big yellow bag and was one of the last people to get a
seat on a very crowded bus, mostly filled with other UQACs. The
atmosphere was very sleepy, with many of the other students not having
gone to bed that night. It was one of those big closing events, where one
knows that most of the people you have lived so closely with for the past
month, you will never see again. It is easier not to think how deep or
shallow these friendships will feel in a day's, week's, month's time.
Arrived in Quebec, hung out with my newspapers until the Montreal bus was
ready to depart. Met Jan shortly after arriving at the Berri station. We
dumped our bags at Bonaventure and then aimable whiled away our last hours
in Quebec before boarding the train home. Canada is not known as a train
country, and indeed really has only one train line of repute, however this
commuter train was cozy and rolled gently into Union Station. My parent's
were there to meet us, which was the most pleasant of reminders that I had
returned home.

One night in Toronto. Not very much, and Jan and I had enough time to recoup, wash laundry and relax (ha! Crazy packing) before heading out with my parents to Pearson. An overnight flight that was only half full. Having a row too ourselves was very comfortable, a shame that the flight was so short, since more sleep would have done us well.

Met Jan’s parents and brother at the Airport. The first time that anyone has ever met me at Heathrow after all these trips, I admit they wouldn’t have been my first guess, but I figure travelling with Jan must have helped. They took us out to a nice French restaurant in Kingston and then it was back to Heathrow for me, armed with a fresh load of newspapers to begin the Germany experience.
